First. There was one. A lonely skeleton tossed in the trash.... I had to save it. I saw such potential, so I learned how to play with color through a new media in fiber.
Two years ago I learned how to use needles to knit and crochet and I haven't been able to put them down. My inspirations for the coverings are from the Mark Rothcos ,Jasper Johns ,Sean Scullys,Ellsworth Kelly,Robert Rauschenberg and Robert Motherwells that I befriended at the art institute of Chicago and the modern in New York. The Museums were meeting places with friends for a day of art talk every couple of weeks. The paintings were old friends that I never got bored with seeing again and again.
The chairs became canvas to me and personalities erupted. I would have mental conversations with them as to what direction to go to next. This was fun and addicting. I'm still not done with them. I can't seem to stop . Well I'm wondering where this going. They are coming out of the closet this coming month. Well at least some of them are. Look for them in the back of the gallery this October!
