The first of three little Bohemian Rag Dolls that will be in the upcoming "Back to Basics" Show in Fort Bragg during the month of March. Northcoast Artists Gallery, Edgewater Gallery, Partners and participating studios at the College of the Redwoods will be exploring the basics of water, food, clothing and shelter. My dolls embrace the basic need to know that we are not alone in this world. Comfort, safety, and companionship, through the eyes of a child. Sewing was the first form of creative expression that my mother taught me. I sat like a hungry puppy at my mother's feet waiting for the odd scraps of fabric that would fall to the ground when she was working at her sewing machine and pawed through her button box plotting my next "creation". This skill became the core of my artistic career as a clothing designer in the early 80's and remains a part of my life, even as I have become a painter.
Please do come to our show opening on First Friday, March 7th if you are in town.
