Oil & Watercolor Paintings
May 2 - June 4, 2024
Mariko's Statement:
I love to paint pictures since I was little. I’m always fascinated watching things. In 1982, when I moved from Tokyo to Mendocino CA, I became aware that the earth is so beautiful. At that time, the beauty of the earth was overwhelming to me. I just watched without painting. Now I express that sentiment in watercolor and oil painting. I’m very pleased to have the ability. I love to paint alone, spend time alone and to reach my subconscious. I can’t explain how precious it is. I love to show the beauty of the earth through my work. Watching the earth and sky is my joy. I hope when I paint, the vibration connects to relaxation, inner peace, healing, happiness, and love. When you face my painting, you feel the vibration, then you smile. Smiles make a wonderful world. Albert Einstein said: “When something vibrates, the electrons of the entire universe resonate with it. Everything is connected.” More info: www.mariko-irie.com |
Welcome to our Newest Guest Members, Molly Boynoff Klein and Isabel Rucker |
Molly's process usually involves throwing on a pottery wheel and altering the shapes with her muddy bare hands, or hand-building with clay slabs. She is inspired by the seashore: the worn sandstone cliffs, the moods of the water, and marine creatures.
After living in the the Rocky Mountains, Peace Corps Volunteering in the Dominican Republic, teaching in China, and world travels, Molly has circled back to her native Mendocino Coast. And now lives near Fort Bragg. |
Jeweler, Isabel Rucker
Isabel Rucker's jewelry is hand wrought and elegant in design. It features glittering hammered surfaces and hand carved gemstones.
She is passionate about the natural world and jewelry is connected to this through regionally sourced stones, like jade from our Mendocino County. Her metal textures recall abstract patterns and movements seen in the wild and capture glints of sunlight. Isabel has a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Oregon where she focused on metalsmithing and she is currently studying to become a gemologist. She returned to the California coast from the Rocky Mountains in 2020. And now lives in Ft. Bragg. For more info: www.isabeljewelry.com Instagram: @isabeljewelry |

Becoming a guest member is required before applying for a full membership. This allows the prospective artist to see what it's like to work in a cooperative gallery before making a decision on whether or not to apply for full membership. Download an application here. |
