“What is that SPARKLE of life that unexpectedly catches our attention and heart?  Wonder, curiosity and awe live right under our nose. Often we’re too busy to notice.  In our shiny, technological world ‘new’ is not always better. To me, nothing compares to the charm and mystery of weathered and worn castoffs. Fascinating untold stories are held in these treasures of humanity. The art of placement, making sense out of seemingly unrelated items is like a game or puzzle. May you recognize the grace and beauty ever present in ordinary life.”

Virginia Ray’s whimsical and imaginative studies are like walking through a natural  history museum, curiosity shop, and meditation temple. She has been cultivating her style of found object art  for 30 years. She has taught creative workshops at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, in schools, hospitals, conference settings, and studios. Her artwork is influenced by world cultures, philosophy, meditation, and formal art training. She is known for her transformative art work in galleries and healing institutions around the Bay Area and beyond. A lover of nature, she spent many years as a resident artist at Wilbur Hot Springs, while sharing time along the California coast including Marin County, Santa Cruz, and the foothills of Nevada City. She now lives in Fort Bragg, steps from Seaglass Beach.
