Artist Statement:
I came to encaustic via print making. A fellow printer introduced me and I was immediately taken by the surfaces, then the brilliance of the colors and the diversity the medium invites. Ten years later it continues to lure me in different directions, exploring the ability to layer, to embed, to excavate, to create textures and draw with a pen. Working with the wax engages me, challenges me and inspires me. I continue to work with a mix of control and surrender and follow the paths that open. |
